Ahh the Forbidden Forest. Something that has always been intreaging to the students of Hogwarts. The name itself just begs to be broken. Forbidden. Come on, thats like telling someone to not look, its just asking for you to do what your told not to do. And the teachers know it too.
Lycoris was not at all above the lure of the forest. Since her first year at the school she had spent many hours hidden in some depth of the forest, either with friends or alone. Today was one of the days where she started off alone, lost in her own thoughts. She had recieved a letter from her parents that morning, them bragging about some accomplishment her older siblings had, and then the typical 'don't bother writing back because we don't know where we'll be tomorrow.' Oh how she loved her family.
The day had started out rainy, so as her feet padded their way through the forest you could hear a soft 'splish splosh' in time to her movement. Fall was upon them, which also meant that the forest was filled with an array of oranges, reds, and yellows. This was one of her favorite times of year because of that. Lyc adjusted the hood from her sweater on her head as she felt a few drops fall from the trees above, unaware if it had begun to rain once more, or if gravity was just winning the battle of the left over drops. Her jeans were wet up to her knees already, and her feet were just about numb in her flats. She didn't mind being wet and cold, there was always a fire waiting in the common room on days like this. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she continued on, hearing a distant 'crack!' of a twig on the ground, either from some animal or another person, she didn't know which.

&.The man strolled hands in pockets, through the woods. It was time for a check on what damage may have been caused either from nosy students who think they can walk around anywhere or any magical creatures. Personally, Syloh wished any damage to be do by creatures because the students could cause worst things. Most teachers didn't realize this but since he wasn't technically a full teacher, that's probably why he noticed.
&.It wasn't the best of days, Syloh was use to the rainy smell and damp outdoors but there was just something that put the day down. His morning and rest of the day had gone well enough. A good start left the Gamekeeper grinning and having a happy feeling in his stomach. No wait, that was just breakfast, good old muffins and cream. Syloh chuckled at his own thoughts.
&.Flipping his mind through what happened so far the day, Syloh lost all control of where he was walking. So, before he focused his mind, the man stepped hard on a twig and almost fell. The stick screamed a crack as it broke as he caught his balance and he sharply exhaled lowly, "Shit...." Shaking himself of what almost happened, Syloh scanned around for any witnesses. After concluding that there were none, he walked on.
&.He was embarrassed for something that no one saw, he subconsciously lowered his sight. Syloh lifted his liquid topaz eyes and instantly spotted movement between two trees not to far off. Flicking his left arm to the side, he slipped his wand to his palm and quickened his pace to catch what was walking. Once he was near the trees it was he saw clearly that it was human, a student. He let his arm holding the wand hang relaxed. Hardening his gaze Syloh leaned against one of the trees and spoke, "What is a lovely young lady, like yourself, doing in these woods?" He never addressed students as kids, no they were grown enough to be young adults. But that fact didn't alter his serious tone.

Lycoris heard the sounds of footsteps coming closer. She gently gripped her wand with her hand, ready for something to spring. She thought she had also heard a voice right after the stick had cracked, meaning that is was probably human, which was worse for her. If it was a teacher, boy would she be in trouble.
Lyc cringed at the thought of another detention. She didn't get them often, but it seemed like every time she was caught in the forest it was getting worse for her. She left a soft sigh escape her lips once more, keeping her mind clear so she could perform whichever spell quickly if she needed to. Then the sound of a voice very close by made her jump.
"What is a lovely young lady, like yourself, doing in these woods?"
Lycoris's eyes scanned the direction of the voice, looking to see who it came from. The voice didn't sound like an enemy, but it also did not sound like someone she wanted to see at the time, judging by the seriousness in his voice. She cringed as she saw, if she remembered correctly, the new games keeper that they had introduced at the start of school feast.
"I suppose that I couldn't pull a 'I got lost' could I?" Lycoris answered calmly with a small hint of a smile, trying to play innocent for the time being. Seeing no instant change in the face of the keeper of games, she decided to be somewhat honest. With a sigh Lycoris started again. "Fine, I was honestly lost in thoughts, and when that happens my feet typically lead me here." She paused for a quick second, then said quickly "Besides, I can handle myself if most things come by, so don't pull the whole 'these woods are dangerous' speech on me. I've been coming in here since my first year, I'm not scared."

&.Once the girl turned to face him, Syloh got the better look at her. She looked like an underclassman and probably was. He did note that be fore she faced him, that she was stiff and rigid. More aware of what might happen if he was so creature or so, she had held her wand tightly. Syloh returned his own to his sleeve and as she spoke, didn't change expressions. He was conflicted inside about how to react.
&.She had really though him to believe her lost? He wasn't that new to his job, that he couldn't pick out the lies the few adventurous students tell. Folding his arms over is chest, still leaning on the tree, Syloh listened to her explanation. It was a new one; being lead to the forest by thoughts and all.
&.The Gamekeeper offered up and grin after seeing her brave honesty. "To tell you the truth, I don't have a lecture yet about the dangers." Syloh pushed himself off his shoulder support. "Besides the lecture would only be for the lower class-man who think they can save their sorry rumps all on their own." He still head his arms to his chest but took a step closer. He didn't want to seem punishing or cold, he was one of the few teachers who had a heart for the students. Not a love though, just a care.
&.Syloh chuckled and let his hands fall free to his sides. "Sorry for the rude greeting. As you probably know I'm the new gamekeeper." The head master had introduce him at the begin of the school year at the feast. "Name's Syloh Wolfe." He made no move to raise his hand for a formal shake, he saw no purpose because she was most likely just going to forget his name after this. The man also didn't ask for her name, which might have seemed weird and creepy. He hated being tagged as creep guy, was totally not in his personality or mind. So, Syloh just stood sure footed and regal giving off a minor smile.

Lycoris continuously watched his movements. She wasn't about to say that she could read exactly what was going to happen, but she was a pretty good judge when it came to people's stances. She let go of her wand at that point, seeing no need to keep the grip on it that she had, he wasn't going to throw any spells at her, unless he wanted to be fired of course. Cori was pretty sure that somewhere in the schools by-laws it stated that teachers couldn't shoot random spells at students, that gave her some hope.
The small smile already on her lips widened a little at what the man before her was saying. He was still new to the job, and aparently no notes were passed from gameskeeper to gameskeeper about what to tell the kids that ventured out. "Aparently you havn't run into enough first year students then," Lycoris said, grinning now. "They like to think that they can beat anything because they know how to levitate stuff." she failed to mention that back then she was like that as well, but then again, who wasn't at that age?
She stood up a little straighter when the man took a step closer, then moments later let his hands fall. Lyc relaxed a little bit with that motion, it meant that she wasn't going to be thrown into detention....yet at least. There was still the possiblity if she didn't play her cards right. She nodded as he began to introduce himself. Of course she knew he was the new gameskeeper, she had five years of some other person. Next she heard his name. Syloh Wolfe. Good, now she could put a name to the face. She couldn't hear very well during the feast, stupid first years giggling away.
"I suppose I would be considered rude if I didn't return the exchange." She said simply."I'm Lycoris Sunders. Sixth year, just in case you are going to be keeping track of us students." She eyed up the man before her, he didn't look as old as most of the staff at the school, guess they employed young so they could stay for a good seventy or so years. "I suppose I will be getting a detention later?" She asked curiously, if so then she was going to milk her time in the forest that day.

&.Her focused in on her comment. He actually only had one other student enter the woods and like she said it was a first year. They get into the most trouble if they come to the forest. That and Syloh just wants to scare them some so they would have stories to tell their dorm-mates. It was just all in good fun. The man smirked at the thought.
&.Syloh looked at her face and saw her smile. "Apparently not, huh?" The question really wasn't a question. It didn't need an answer. The gamekeeper let slip and genuine laugh and a positive smile. At least this was one student he was on the good side of. Clearing his system of the amusement, Syloh noted her relax and give her information back to him. Lycoris Sunders. That's one name that the man hadn't heard of before. But her words at the end is what got him. "I don't have a black book for names, maybe for the really bad students. But your not one of those." He paused then added with a slight teasing voice, "At least I can only hope your not."
&.He still stood, but replace his hands into his pockets. He was contemplating the detention thing. A silence grow large before Syloh finally answered, "As for a detention, I'm going to say.....lets hope I just don't find you in her again any time soon." The gamekeeper hopped she understood what he meant. Of course he would let her off the hook. She could take care of her self and there weren't many big busily creature in these woods besides the human sized spiders. But those were hardly anything to worry about unless you had a phobia. He was due to be getting some magical animals of his own soon.
&.He pulled one of his hands out and ran it through his hair then pulled it back down to rub his chin. Lycoris wasn't the only one thinking when they entered the forest. But then again he was allowed in here and she wasn't.

Cori nodded to what Syloh said next, in response to the first years. So full of themselves. She thought back to when she was a first year student, new to the school, and her older twin siblings being there. Her first time into the forest was because of them, though the numerous times that followed the same year were usually of her own doing. She smiled to herself, thinking about all the different creatures she ran into that year, some of which came hand in hand with a rescue from the gameskeeper, and a detention. Those were definatly the days. By her second year she smartened up enough to not get caught so much.
Lyc smirked then. "How about a big blue book then? Or even red for all the blood shed?" She gave a short laugh at the thought. a red book for students who frequently visited the forest, that would be funny. She then caught on to what he said next. Bad students, and her. "Well, if you ask some people they would say yes, and if you saw how many times-" She paused, thinking about whether or not to continue that sentance. She decided not to at the time. She would try to play the 'good girl' card for awhile longer. But really, by the next time he caught her in the forest Cori was sure he would realise that this would be a frequent thing.
The smile on her face began to fad as the silence between the two grew longer. He was considering the detention then. Lyc wondered how long she would be serving this time, one night? maybe three weeks? Then he spoke again, and Lyc released the breath she didn't know she was holding. "So then two weeks from now is good then?" She asked with a small smile. "This is kinda the best place to think, and I normally stick around the edges, so I can see the castle still..." She stopped herself before she could go any farther with that thought. Maybe she was saying too much now. Maybe Syloh would reconsider not giving her detention at that point?
She sighed once more, thinking back to that morning and the letter her paretns wrote. That was the hwole purpose for being here. "Man, I gotta stop opening those..." She said, mostly to herself. Every time she received a letter like that, she would end up in the forest, or some similar situation, and end up with a detention or injured. What a life.

&.He had to laugh. The fact that he did laugh wasn't important, it was just one of those time when you had too, either because of what someone did or said. In this case it was about what she said. Little Miss. Sunders had a bucket of humor with her. Syloh had never giving a thought to writing student names down, let alone in their own category of book.
"Blue book, for what? The students I make cry?" He grinned then continued, "The red probably isn't a good idea. I just got here and if I made a student bleed or inflect them with any injuries I would get fired." The man shook his head once with a smile, but still serious, "Nope, not a good idea." Syloh's mood was slightly dampened when the girl brought up her wild side. His smile thinned and he raised an eyebrow, but remained still and silent. No way he was going to push that subject.
No one would have expected it, well people that didn't know her wouldn't have. And Syloh just happened to fall under that category. She was serious, too. The look on her face was undeniably honest. There wasn't much to say but, "You have got to be kidding me. Two weeks? Wow, okay.....possibly. But if you get caught by another teacher you can't say I said you could." He rolled his eyes in a sigh type of way. "Maybe you just are a trouble makers who needs their name written down....maybe in the red book?" Syloh lifted both his eyebrows at the question as if to be serious. But, like he stated before, he wouldn't ever make a red book.
He was getting tried of standing, not that he was that old or anything, just tried. He had been walking around the maze of trees before he found the sixth year. He scanned the forest floor quickly and noted a stump. He moved to sit, the feeling of tention in his legs relieved. A satisfied 'ah' almost block Lycoris' vocie, even if it wasn't said to him. "Open what?" He didn't have room to actually be digging into students lives but if they needed someone to talk to and he was willing, at the moment, he would listen. He liked a social life.

Lycoris burst out laughing at what he had suggested for a blue book. how quickly would that book fill up with all the new first years? How many first years cried when they got caught and punished? The thought never occured to her before then since she wasn't the type to cry infront of people. She calmed down enough to respond.
"I like that idea. How many first years have you made cry?" Lyc asked, eyebrows raised in mock curiosity. She truly doubted any this early in the term. "I hope about twenty so far. About half the first years in a few short weeks is a pretty good ratio I think." She shook her head then "Nah, not from injuries you inflict on them, from the animals inside the forest." She thought about another spill of honesty, and decided it was safe to say at this point. "I had a close call for injury in my third year. I only ended up with a scratch thanks to the old gameskeeper." She frowned at the thought and shook her head to clear the thought out.
Lycoris grinned. He was actually resonable, probably because he was young yet himself. "Really? you would actually allow me to come here freely as long as I'm not caught by anyone but you? I promise I would keep my mouth shut on that one, not even my closet friends would hear!" Okay, calm down, getting a little too excited there. She couldn't contain her grin as she continued. "You don't know the half of it," She said with a laugh "I was on a first name basis with the old gameskeeper by the middle of my first year he caught me so much." she thought about how that sounded and added more. "No, I'm not a danger seeker, I just like the forest and the serenity of it. crazy, huh?"
Her eyes followed as Syloh moved to sit down. Old man must need to sit, she thought to herself with a half smile. Lyc moved her body to face him, and leaned against a tree casually. She seemed to be out of trouble, and this was now just a time for each to stray into their own thoughts, but then he spoke again. Drat, he had heard, which meant more honesty. She paused, thinking about what to say, then decided it may be good to get some things off her chest to someone who wouldn't go blabbing around the school. "Its just my family. I'm the 'black sheep' they say. My parents and older twin siblings were all in Slytherin, evil. They keep sending me letters about accomplishments and how I shouldn't bother to respond cause they won't be home...." Lyc sighed, relaxing into the tree, so far, just saying that, made her feel alittle better for some reason.

&.Her question made Syloh think. Truthfully he caught about eight first years, but only two of them were brave enough to actually enter. The other five would push each other toward the black trees but than run away in fear. The man loved the watch those types. They were just so funny. No, but he didn't think he made any cry. Not in his face at least.
&.He leaned back and place his hands behind him to support himself, as he sat. "None yet, I think. There was one who was really close to getting teary but after I dismissed him, he ran back to his dorm." The gamekeeper shook his head and grinned. "Poor kid." Syloh closed his eyes and chuckled, then opened them again. He still wasn't sure about the red book, though, thoughts of students returning bloodied would prove that he did a bad job with protecting them. "That red book is still iffy." Syloh Glanced over at her. And notice her straight, distant face when she brought up her third year. "Well, I can only hope I do a better job. One where you will come out unharmed." The man offered a smile of reassurance.
&."Ya, sure I'll let you." The gamekeeper shrugged but his face was serious. "But you have to promise that you won't go deep into the forest and that if you have any trouble with any of the creatures, does hesitate to call for me or come find me." Syloh raised his eyebrows as if edging her to promise. He wanted to trust, he probably already did, but he wanted to make sure. He changed his expression to her later comments to friendly shock. He had to admit that it was surprising, he didn't see her as such an adventurer but he smirked and laughed lowly. What she though he was think, he wasn't at all. Syloh was already aware that she wasn't a danger seeker and such.
Soon after his features changed again. Lycoris had brought up her family in to the matter, which made the gamekeeper straighten his back and drags his hands up to rest on his knees. This all had just gotten more interesting and deeper. A 'black sheep'? Ouch that had to sting, especially coming from your own blood members. "I'm guessing by your distaste in the green and gray posse, you aren't in the Slytherin house." Different houses in families weren't truly ever good. He was lucky enough to have his family be relaxed when they got in different houses. "Why don't you try and write them back anyways. Tell them of what you have done." For all she knew her family could be lying about being gone. And with a family like that, Syloh wouldn't doubt that they were.

Cori listened carefully. Only one got eary, those first years must be getting braver each year then. either that, or they were just getting more and more psychotic. Either way, was an interesting fact, good to know for whatever path that she chose for her future. She nodded then, with a smile on her face.
"They must be getting braver," She stated simply, speaking her mind. She felt comfortable to do that with Syloh, which, in her opinion, was a good staff to student relationship. It wouldn't be any good if she dind't fel comfortable. "I kinda wish I had been there to see it honestly. Maybe just to console the poor kid afterwards." She shrugged with a grin on her face. She nodded. The red book would be a bad thing, but it would still be interesting to see how many names ended into it. "I'm sure that you will do a fine job. From what I can tell so far your doin pretty darn good." She spoke with complete truthfulness. She really thought that he was doing a fine job so far, and she had really only met him this once.
Lycoris watched his face turn from being smiling and happy, to serious with what he was saying. He obviously meant what he was saying, which Lycoris was happy about, but she did also understand the risks for both. She nodded a few times as he was speaking, and when he was finished she said, with seriousness in her voice as well. "I promise you that I will. Honestly, unless I have another day like today where I'm lost in thought, i stick on the outskirts. Far enough in to not be seen, bu close enough that I can see out." She smiled at all the days in the past where she had been breaking the rules completely. Now while she would still be breaking the school's rules, she had someone who understood what she meant, and would be more relaxed with her about it. "If you want I'll even try to pop by before I head in to give you a heads up." She said it in more of a joking voice, but she meant it. She was willing to do that as well if it meant him trusting her.
Lycoris let the man digest what she had said next about her family, watching his expression change. She had only really spoken to a few close friends about her family matters, so it was interesting to watch what an adult thought about it. She nodded to what he asked about her being in Slytherin house. "Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind," She said, quoting the sorting hat. It was a song sung each year at the sorting ceremony, and it was mentioned in some history books as well, so she knew that part quite well. "I did once. I don't know if they got it or not. They never said anything. But honestly, I don't have much to say to them. I think after my seventh year is done I may just head off on my own somewhere." She shrugged, thinking about that and smiling a bit. Freedom, absolute freedom. What a wonder that would be.

&.He simply just listened to her reply about the first year he caught. He lent a grin and chuckle now and then when she placed a amused comment into the conversation. One of her words touched him, sure he was doing a nice job, but hearing it from another preson made it all the more better. Syloh was relaxed and open, well not fully but about half way, there were still student teacher boundaries. And even he had his respects.
He smiled a beaming smile at her, "Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my effort." The man was partly happy as he noted everyone of her next words. A promise was great to hear and again he smiled, but with less rays.
Nodding he spoke once more, "Good." He kept his eyes on her and liked what she had to say next. "Yes, that would do well. Come by my hut every time you want to wander here. It will help me know when I need to be kinda worried." It was weirdly put but Syloh hopped she understood. I wasn't that he didn't think she could take care of herself, he just wanted to be ready if she happened to need his help.
The gamekeeper was focused on her family matters again It seemed to be a important subject, so it was to be listen too and commented on. He hummed the tune as she said the words of the jiggle for Ravenclaw. He was glad it hadn't changed. "Believe it or nor, I was placed in to Ravanclaw." A smirk played on his lips again. But it faded slightly as she brought up freedom after her last year. "Freedom isn't all its cracked up to be sometimes." He had listened to what she said about her family then restated all that she had told him in his head. He raised an eyebrow with utter confusion. "Wait, wait, wait... If your parents and siblings are always away and traveling, where do you go for the summer breaks?"

Cori nodded to Syloh. He was doing a good job so far, and she believed that people deserved to be told. Cori's thoughts took her back to the old gameskeeper and she shook her head. He was old, and not as fun to talk to, though, that was probably due to her history in the forest and detention thanks to him. Oh well, new gameskeeper, new start.
So, her joke had been taken in all seriousness, but that was fine. She grinned at his comment about knowing when to be kinda worried, letting a soft laugh escape her lips. She nodded once more "I can totally do that. Besides, I wouldn't exactly want to go missing in the forest." She thought for a moment, and then said in a serious voice herself "Thanks for understanding. I know that if anything gets out you would probably be in more trouble than me for this. It means alot to have someone who knows what I mean about the lures of the forest for thinking."
Ah yes, conversations about her family. The most fun in her short existance....not! "Really? You used to be a blue and siver? Thats kinda cool. Were you a brainy nerd, or just addicted to knowledge?" She stopped her thoughts from going any further, not sure if she was being too pushy with asking for information or not. She didn't exactly know how much a teacher could tell a student about their lives, but she was genuinly curious. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I just think its interesting is all." She gave Syloh a small smile.
"Freedom from my family would be." She said simply, then laughed at his next comment about where she went for summer holidays. "I go home of course. Where else would I go?" Her eyes lit up a little bit as she imagined going home for vacation. "My family isn't that great, but they do still go home when I have to be there. Besides, I could take care of myself, as long as there was food in the house, and some money for school shopping." She beamed proudly for a moment as she spoke what was next "My parents may not like me like they do my brother and sister, but they stil know I'm part of the family. They need to keep up appearances."

&.He grinned at her reply. But what she was saying was true. He would be in more trouble then she. The new gamekeeper didn't want to get fired already. He basically just got the job and was doing quite well at it. Well, that atleast what he thought and he was glad the the student agreed.
"Yeah, well....I don't want to get fired anytime soon, so I'm hoping that this doesn't get leaked." He chuckled some. "I can't give every student a free pass to walk on in through the forest when ever they want." The man looked over at her and smiled. Yeah, he knew the distractions of the forest brought to students. He cupped his hands together and leaned his chin on them. "You're welcome."
He was surprised by her question. It wasn't really that personally and he would answer it. But he hesitated. Syloh wasn't really sure which one he was back in school. He wouldn't call himself a nerd but most of his other, now older, classmates probably would. "Me? Oh, I have to say that I was an addicted to knowledge kinda guy." He smirked and blinked at her before standing and placing one of his feet upon the stump were he was just sitting. "What about yourself? You don't look to be a nerdy type." The gamekeeper shot a raised eyebrow at her, mocking seriousness.
He breathed a sigh of relief when she spoke of how her family was at the house when she was. "I'm glad that they kinda care for you, I think.....If they wouldn't be home when you are...that, I have to admit, freaked me out." Some of the concern had been wiped off his face but there was some that still lingered. Not that he was going to press the topic even more.

Cori nodded. She did not exactly want Syloh to be fired. He was pretty cool, and young! She was begining to think that it was literally a requirment to be at least fifty before you could teach here. She noticed that alot this year. There seemed to be alot of young teachers and such. It was rather nice because they were still close to being a kid, but they weren't close enough to be hardcore partiers like some of the higher years and those who graduated not too long ago. She then 'zipped her lips' and then 'threw away the key.' "The words will not escape my lips without a truth spell or potion put on me." She smiled slightly "Not really much I could do in that situation unfortunatly." Cori then laughed at giving every student a free pass. That would be the day. She hated to picture it, the whole forest swamped by the youth of the school. There would be no room for the creatures to live, and then it also would no longer be able to be called 'Forbidden.' Then Syloh would really get fired, and that would not be good. She shook her head at those thoughts. "No, you definatly could not do that. Would be horrible."Ahh, a knowledge addict. Those were the best sorts of Ravenclaw in her opinion. The nerd types were just annoying, but then again, at times some of the people who were jsut addicted to knowledge could be as well. Lycoris beamed, glad that she did not look like the nerdy type. She tried to be somewhat stylish, normally succeeding. "I am totally and completely addicted to knowledge. I think I've read almost half the books in the library. Theres just not enough time to read all the things you want to!" She laughed, thinking about how she would have to find herself a job at the school just for the sake of being able to read the rest of the books. "Though, I must admit, I am sorta a nerd in some ways too because of it..." She grinned sheepishly. It was really hard to not nerd out on certain things. Cori gave a short laugh. Her family, sorta care for her? Wouldn't that entail them actually showing some form of affection? She thought about that though, maybe because she was different the only affection they knew how to show was hatred. She then gave a small smile to Syloh. "Honestly, I never even thought that my family cared in the slightest. You just made me realise that maybe they do somewhat care, a little at least." She paused "Though, I still kinda say it is to keep up appearances." Cori still smiled though, having freaked Syloh out a little bit. "Really? I freaked you out a bit? thats kinda sweet of you...Not in a creepy way!" Cori added quickly. "I'm just not really sued to adults being kinda nice to me and actually worrying, if only a bit."((when yo uget a chance go and post in the quidditch thread with Cori/Quinn...we decided we needed to be caught, and since you're the only other Hogwarts staff toon... ))
